October storm ravages parts of state – Commuter rail expected to be delayed today – City Hall races heat up with a week to go – Vermin reigns Supreme

OCTOBER BLUST: We in Boston may have only received enough late-October snow to grumble and make us hate winter a little earlier than usual. while the western parts of the state got whacked but good (Republican). Commuter rail officials got the word out early that you’re probably going to be late for work today (Metro, AP) and some are still in the dark due to downed power lines (AP).

THE LOCALS: Some local races are heating up in cities across the state. Or maybe the "week before election day" alarm went off in the newsrooms of the major daily papers and they decided to pay attention to certain City Halls for the next few days. There’s not one, but two competitive city council races in Boston and it looks like Fitchburg mayor Lisa Wong could be out in the cold come next Tuesday.

VERMIN: Your next president of the United States.
