Muni election surprises in Fitchburg, Holyoke, Boston -Tisei to run for Congress – Mitchell wins in New Bedford – Incumbents hold on across state

RESULTS: In as few words as possible: Cabral loses (ST). Wong wins (S&E). Sandlin loses. Sarno wins.(Republican). Petty wins (T&G) Pretty much all the incumbents won…

THE OUTLIER: …except for this one ginger kid in Holyoke (Republican).

BOSTON BLOCK PARTY: A roller coaster election night in Boston left many this morning questioning if we have any idea what we’re talking about when we make predictions about these things. Ayanna Pressley, who was favored by many to be on the unfortunate bottom of the at large electoral pig pile, ended up on top and had herself a block party to celebrate (Herald). That bottom slot went to former Menino challenger Michael Flaherty, who will not be getting his old job back (Globe). Former city worker Frank Baker will be Dorchester’s new councilor (Dot News) and South Boston councilor Bill Linehan hung on by the skin of his teeth (Patch).

SEE RICH RUN: Richard Tisei is going to run for Congress. (Salem News)
