Polls open in NH – Mitt’s “fire people” line adds fuel to anti-executive criticisms – Dixville for Romney & Huntsman – Mass. GOP in NH

FIRING LINE: Mitt Romney kind of, maybe, stepped in it a little yesterday when he said he liked having the ability and freedom to fire people that don’t provide expected services. The out-of-context sound bite didn’t help the candidate fight off the mounting criticisms of his background in business as polls opened in New Hampshire this morning.

DIXVILLE NOTCH: Romney and Jon Huntsman split first place in the First-in-the-First-in-the-Nation primary in the town of Dixville Notch, NH. Also, say "Dixville Notch" out loud. It’s fun. (UL)

THE BACKUP: Though all eyes are on the big boys of the GOP, I know that what real MASSterList readers want to know is what roles Mass. Republicans Paul Frost, Rich Bastien, Ryan Fattman, Kevin Kuros and Todd Smola are playing in New Hampshire. (T&G)

THE GREN: Boston Fed chief Eric Rosengren stops by the Globe, writes a prescription for housing and foreclosure problems.

Nice try Western Mass., but I don’t think that orange tape is going to stop a train.
