Mitt elected Car King in Mich., Rattlesnake Lord in Ariz. – Casinos, New Jersey and Taunton – Karmic snow on the way

Happy Leap Day – the day that it not a day!

MITT MONITOR: Mitt Romney’s having probably the happiest Leap Day of his life (though 1972 was a real hoot) since winning the Arizona and Michigan primaries last night. Romney won in his home state of Michigan with 41 percent of the vote to Rick Santorum’s 38 percent. He did even better in Arizona, winning 47-27 there. Romney continues to lead the field with 145 delegates of the 1144 needed to capture the nomination. (Phoenix Republic, Detroit Free Press, Post)

GAMBLIN’: Back in the Bay State, Attorney General Martha Coakley announced her pick for the new gaming commission: retired New Jersey Police Lt. Col. Gayle Cameron. (Globe) Because nothing says "successful business and social climate" quite like the emulation of New Jersey. The trend seems to already becoming reality, with the Mashpee Wompanoags deciding to built a casino in the Mass. city already the most like New Jersey in many ways. (CCT)

SNOW!: Much the same way an old war wound can ache when a storm is approaching, I can tell when karma is on the way. The Winter that Never Was may take a time-out to actually be wintry tonight, with 4-6 inches of wintry mix forecast for Boston. You know what to do.

T: How to get the Metro to write about you.

Mich. must-win for Romney? – Sprgfld Repub. politely calls out $300k charity chief – Globe makes Coakley comeback officially official

MITT MONITOR: So I haven’t really been paying that much attention to Our Man Mitt in a while, let’s see how he’s doing with this primary thing (Globe) …. That’s not so good. DON’T WANT TO UPSET ANYONE, BUT…: The Springfield Republican asks very, very politely if perhaps the guy making $300k running five publicly-funded non-profits in Western Mass. is maybe a tad overpaid. It’s like the Bizarro Herald.

MARSHA, MARSHA, MARSHA: Probably because they’re still stinging from “that thing that happened in Jan. 2010 that we’re not allowed to talk about,” the Globe took their sweet time jumping on the Coakley Comeback bandwagon.
