Happy Leap Day – the day that it not a day!

MITT MONITOR: Mitt Romney’s having probably the happiest Leap Day of his life (though 1972 was a real hoot) since winning the Arizona and Michigan primaries last night. Romney won in his home state of Michigan with 41 percent of the vote to Rick Santorum’s 38 percent. He did even better in Arizona, winning 47-27 there. Romney continues to lead the field with 145 delegates of the 1144 needed to capture the nomination. (Phoenix Republic, Detroit Free Press, Post)

GAMBLIN’: Back in the Bay State, Attorney General Martha Coakley announced her pick for the new gaming commission: retired New Jersey Police Lt. Col. Gayle Cameron. (Globe) Because nothing says "successful business and social climate" quite like the emulation of New Jersey. The trend seems to already becoming reality, with the Mashpee Wompanoags deciding to built a casino in the Mass. city already the most like New Jersey in many ways. (CCT)

SNOW!: Much the same way an old war wound can ache when a storm is approaching, I can tell when karma is on the way. The Winter that Never Was may take a time-out to actually be wintry tonight, with 4-6 inches of wintry mix forecast for Boston. You know what to do.
