Mitt’s picks lose out in GOP caucus – DC ‘Nerd Prom’: lots of dog jokes – NH Guv saves Mass. motorist

TURNOUT WAS LIGHT: State Republicans, Mitt Romney’s supposed home base, caucused this weekend. But there’s a twist! Several prominent GOPers lost out to Ron Paul supporters, meaning that though everyone has to vote for Romney, they could affect the party platform or convention beauty pageant or whatever it is they have planned for Tampa.

BO IS NERVOUS: President Obama made quite a few dog jokes at the the other night. I waited around for Mitt Romney’s GOP response but I guess MSNBC didn’t air it.

STILL HAD TO PAY TOLL: New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch, really butting into a neighbor’s business in a very un-New Englandy way, saved a Massachusetts motorist from a burning car. Hey buddy, save people on your own side of the border, alright? And pay our eight percent life-saving tax. Don’t worry, we’ll charge your EZ=Pass.

Brown and Warren tax returns expected – How Native American is Warren? – Ever wanted to go down a water slide in Taunton? – Congressmen reject cyber sec. bill

The 1% – WHO CARE: Is Elizabeth Warren Native American enough to represent the citizens of Massachusetts, or just those diversity-obsessed Harvard elites? Is Scott Brown poor enough to represent the people of Massachusetts? What is this race about again?

HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH: Speaking of Native Americans, bonafide Wampanoag leaders revealed plans for the casino they hope to build in Taunton. It might have water slides.

CYBER PRIVACY: U.S. Representatives Ed Markey and Bill Keating are not fans of a cybersecurity bill moving through the House.

TRIVIAL MATTERS: If a second MassterList trivia challenge were to happen, what kind of categories would you want to see? Hit me up, or just yell them at me if you see me somewhere.

House passes budget plan – Reps debate EBT abuse – Frank rethinks HC reform – Hodgson unhappy

THREE DAYS: The House passed its budget last night, voting 150-4 at the stroke of midnight to approve the $32.4 billion plan. Among the things they didn’t pass, however, was an amendment that would have expanded the bottle bill to include water and sports drink bottles. But that’s all just fine in Concord, where they just voted to ban bottled water anyway.

LEARNING YOUR E.B.T.S: The most contentious part of the budget debate was the rumble over welfare abuse, which the Herald is all over.

DO NOT COLLECT: Sheriff Tom Hodgson is unhappy. REALLY unhappy that the House didn’t include his “charge inmates for their stay” plan.

HONEY BADGER (D-MA): Suffering from some serious senioritis, Barney Frank says that maybe that whole health care reform thing wasn’t actually the best idea after all.

Oh, and the Bruins lost.

Romney launches national campaign – Seniors booted from House gallery – Tax return fight: better than baseball a nd dogs – Winslow’s HOV lane idea

STAY TUNED, AMERICA: Mitt Romney won a whole bunch of primaries yesterday to double triple extra lock up the GOP nomination. He celebrated by launching his national campaign and told everywhere that “a better America begins tonight,” which sort of sounds like a line used to market something from the 90s.
“A better America[n Gladiators] starts tonight!”
“A better America [Online] starts tonight!”
“A better America [Knows How to Dance] starts tonight!”

AFGHAN REVOLT: Senior citizen activists got all riled up yesterday and shouted at Speaker DeLeo from the House gallery during the budget debate. The trouble-making grannies were promptly booted from the chamber and organizers were scolded by court officers.

SURELY MAKE YOU LOSE YOUR MIND: Dan Winslow’s HOV toll lane idea didn’t go anywhere during the budget debate, but not before drivers got really worked up about it.

#MASEN: I just assume all politicians own car elevators and secret mountain top lairs, and there’s nothing a silly little “tax return” document or “indisputable proof otherwise” can do to change that.

Budget Week kicks off – Mitt and Marco? – Campaigns for everything in high gear – Scott Brown needs a bigger office

Welcome, my friends, to Budget Week. What did the Speaker have to say about this year’s budget and his no-new-taxes pledge? You tell me. I didn’t watch it.

A FIRST-TERM SENATOR?!: Our Man Mitt is still on the campaign trail, hitting it hard general election-style. As he lunges towards the center, talk is picking up about who his vice presidential pick will be, with Florida senator Marco Rubio (who I don’t seem to remember being a shining example of a centrist) being mentioned time and again as a likely pick. Rubio has recently scaled back his answer to the VP question from ‘no, never never,’ to ‘sure, maybe,’ so we’ll see where this goes.

THE TRENCHES: There are other campaigns, oh yes there are. Campaigns for Congress. Campaigns for Governor’s council. Campaigns for everything else.

BUT THERE IS BOTTLE SERVICE: Much like a fancy restaurant, Scott Brown’s office requires reservations for large parties. Is there a drink minimum and deposit, too?
