Myers heading up Romney VP search – War chests show congressional fields – Budget around the corner – Jajuga says no

SHE SHOULD PULL A DICK CHENEY: He might be surrounded with national advisors and old GOP party handlers these days, but Mitt knows to rely on tried and true locals for the really important business. And this is extremely important given the recent string of VP picks- ‘00: Cheney picks himself vs. He’s not even a Democrat anymore, ‘04: Dick’s still alive and on the ticket vs. maybe you should have vetted Edwards a bit, ‘08: Hey, Joe! vs. You have got to be kidding me.

DOWN TO BUSINESS: But beyond the calm of school vacation lies the storm of Budget Week. Chairman Dempsey’s hometown paper has his back, supporting the Speaker’s no new taxes pledge and trashing the governor’s plans to balance the budget with taxes on cigarettes, candy soda and other fun things.

L-TOWN: Let’s visit Lowell for a minute. The congressional race between maybe-sorta-still-vulnerable incumbent Niki Tsongas and Republican Jon Golnick seems one-sided as far as fund raising is concerned but Golnick is maintaining support here and there.

Also up that away: Jajuga says no to his old seat in the Senate and Lowell Cambodians love Elizabeth Warren.
