Vicki Kennedy invites Brown and Warren to Brokaw debate – Bottle bill and MBTA supporters to rally – South Shore/Coast/Cape district Dems debate Republican moderator

DEBATES: Anyone who forgot how important this Senate race is got a strong reminder yesterday when Vicki Kennedy invited U.S. Sen. Scott Brown and challenger Elizabeth Warren to a debate moderated by Tom Browkaw and possibly set to air in primetime on cable news. Warren has said yes, Brown is still considering.

MORE DEBATES: Can a Republican fairly moderate a debate between two Democrats? That’s what’s being asked in the new 9th district where Bill Keating is running against Bristol DA Sam Sutter in the Dem primary. Though Sutter is down to appear on a local GOP official’s radio show for the debate, Keating is having none of it.

BOTTLES AND TRAINS: There will be two protests here at the State House this afternoon, with bottle bill advocates rallying in support of that bill at noon, followed by a pro-MBTA funding rally at 12:30. Let’s hope the bottle bill people are succinct.

I’M HIP, I’M WITH IT: Our local tabloid reports that some of Those Darn Kids, when not occupying public spaces, trespassing on Herald readers’ lawns or making That Awful Racket That Isn’t Even Music, approve of Mayor Thomas Menino and his hepcat creds. (The last three terms have been for irony’s sake.) It must have been a pain to explain to each of these kids what a newspaper is before each interview. Not to mention the even more painful explanation of what the Herald is to anyone under 50.
