Romney and Obama fighting for NH – Brown/Warren one of the costliest Senate races – Happy Anniversary – House rejects Patrick budget changes

BATTLEGROUND: With only four electoral votes, you wouldn’t think New Hampshire would be a key prize in this year’s presidential election, but both President Obama and Mitt Romney are working the granite state like it’s Ohio or something.

COST OF DOING BUSINESS: Though the top of the ticket will likely dominate the airwaves of our northern neighbor, here in Massachusetts we’ll still be home to one of the costliest Senate races in that nation. Elizabeth Warren has had a bit of a fund raising advantage over incumbent Sen. Scott Brown this past quarter, but the total amounts on both sides are high enough to annoy us with ads straight through to November.

FUN FACT: Both Warren and Brown have the same anniversary date! They should call a one-night armistice to campaigning today for Gail and Bruce’s sakes.

HOUSE RULES: The House rejected a few of Gov. Deval Patrick’s budget changes yesterday, voting to restore their own tougher language on welfare reform and motor vehicle registration, and to keep Taunton hospital open.
