Formals end: Last call for lawmaking – GOP candidates in the 4th rip each other after debate – Warren to speak before B. Clinton at DNC

ALL I CAN SMELL IS SAUSAGE: Today’s the day that lawmaking comes to a screeching halt and we remark about how they got a year’s worth of legislating done in just a couple of weeks. The sausage factory is in such a state of overdrive that at least one activist claims the Democrats in charge aren’t even trying to make good old fashioned small-D democratic sausage anymore. And another pundit thinks he knows why that is, or at least how they get away with it.

INTRAMURAL: After agreeing on everything during a real snoozer of a debate, the Republican candidates running for Barney Frank’s seat in the Fourth ripped into each other once the camera were off.

BRING ON BILL: Elizabeth Warren is going to speak at the Democrats’ national convention in September right before former President Clinton takes the stage.

DOUBLE DUTY: Let’s ask a simpler question here: whose campaign treasurer is not also a state employee? The five of you that raised your hands, good work. The Commonwealth commends you.
